Constable Tre Hamad, a member of the Durham Regional Police Service, has been arrested and charged by the Ontario Provincial Police, Durham Regional Police said in a statement posted on Oct. 27, 2026. The service said it takes the allegations against Constable Hamad very seriously and that he has been suspended without pay.

Durham Regional Police said the investigation was conducted by an external police service and the matter is now before the courts, and that the service cannot provide any further comment. Questions regarding the investigation should be directed to the OPP, the service said. The statement did not identify the charges, the date of the arrest, or any other details.

The charges have not been proven in court.
